Event Interfaith Hospitality Network Volunteer Training. There will be a training session for volunteers on Saturday, March 6th, 9:30 a.m. to noon at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 6306 Roe Avenue. If you are interested in volunteering for our week in the rotation and have not been trained, here’s an opportunity for you to fulfill that requirement. Love Letter to A Conflicted Church: Promise in Our Anger and Disagreement Join us Sunday evening, March 7, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. for an evening of intentional conversations at the table and dialogue with author Dick Olson. The agenda includes dinner, intentional conversations around the table, reflections on Dr. Olson’s book from Dr. Robert Johnson, Academic Dean at Central Baptist Theological Seminary and Jim and Kathi Cook (Prairie members), dialogue with Dr. Olson about his book and its value to us. Come for worship and fellowship as well. Books are available for purchase after worship today. Please sign up in the office so that we can be good stewards in our preparation. Childcare is available upon request.
Think Spring = Eggstravaganza! Easter is right around the corner, and it’s time for Prairie’s annual Community Egg Hunt 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 3rd, in Porter Park. The Board of Family Life needs event-day volunteers. This event is free and open to all children 1-8 and their families. How They Get the Humor in Hallmark Prairie Seniors welcomes you to join them on Saturday, March 20th, 10:30 a.m., to hear Prairie member, Tracy Icenogle, talk about his interesting and enviable (if you have a great sense of humor) job as humorist and “court jester” at Hallmark. The title of his presentation: “I Have the Funnest Job in The World.” In addition to learning how humor gets into greeting cards from an insider perspective, enjoy the grand company of our Prairie seniors and a delicious pot luck meal. Prairie Seniors Day Retreat Prairie Seniors will gather for a second annual daytime retreat at the home of Dianne Shumaker on Thursday, March 18th, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In addition to enjoying Dianne’s gracious hospitality, we will explore the meaning of worship and worship together, brainstorm next year’s programming, eat a fried chicken feast from Stroud’s and play board games. This is a wonderful opportunity to relax and learn together and to enjoy the great company of Prairie Seniors and friends. Stewardship and Capital Campaign Update. We currently have $433,566 pledged to our Annual Budget by 114 members and $1,131,110 to the Capital Campaign by 95 members. We have fixed the amount in the Margaret James fund that is dedicated to the Capital Campaign at $94,750.90. We also have memorials for the organ and building fund that presently total $35,915.00. The grand total of funds now committed to the building program is $1,261,776.
