Service & Mission
Prairie members believe that
part of Christian living is compassionate service to others. As part of
the Interfaith Hospitality Network, the church houses homeless families
on a rotating basis with other area churches. Another, longstanding
ministry of the church provides assistance to families related to Bethel
Neighborhood Center, Kansas City, Kansas, in the Christmas season. A
committed core of church members works for justice in the greater Kansas
City area through the Metro Organization for Racial and Economic Equity
(MORE2). Their areas of focus include education, access to opportunity
and health care. For many years, we have worshiped with inmates at
Topeka Correctional Facility.
Prairie has historically, generously supported
financially international, national and regional ministries related to
American Baptist Churches and others. We also offer the care and
compassion of Christ through domestic and international service trips
and pilgrimages.
